A young fashion designer who has shed light internationally on Egypt’s fashion scene is Mohanad Kojak. The 25-year-old Egyptian designer has managed to dominate every red carpet in the country in less than five years. The glitz, glam, embroidery, designs, diversity, and exquisite finishing have left us all in awe one collection after the other.
However, as a community of Egyptian moms, the designer’s love and public appreciation for his mother is what really stands out for us. Nabila Yassin has been Kojak’s signature hijabi model for years. The designer has managed to dress his mama stunningly and it gives us all hope in looking just as fab and glamorous in his designs.
Since Rahet Bally’s platform is all about diversity and inclusion, we created the first-ever Egyptian fashion show that represents the real mommies of Cairo; the real women who wake up at dawn, finish hundreds of house chores while sending e-mails and cooking lunch.
Kojak Studio decided to support motherhood and display their finest work at The Rahet Bally Experience event, where real diverse women will take part in a fashion representation. We don’t want supermodels. We want women who represent our diverse nature. We crave real ladies with real pregnancy and post-baby curves in local designers’ clothes. We are thrilled that mommies with physical disabilities and children with special needs are willing to participate in our initiative. It’s time that we shed light on the beauty of Egyptian ladies and local designers.
“My mother has always been my backbone. The strength I’ve seen in her as I was growing up inspired me to work against all odds for everything I desired. She has supported me through thick and thin and believed in me when the whole world seemed to be against me,” Mohanad Kojak told Rahet Bally.
“For those reasons, I felt compelled to celebrate every mother out there and help them embrace their uniqueness. We’re all beautiful just the way we are regardless of any body shape or size. Inclusion and representation is the first step in Egypt towards tolerance and acceptance. I’d be honored to dress our everyday moms at The Rahet Bally Experience,” the designer explained.
Another incredible designer that will grace our event is the phenomenal Nada Akram who understands what it means to have curves and still rock the look, which is basically every mother’s dream. You can also shop with Doo and NG designs.
